About the Books:
In 2018, I started the year with a Vision day, as I always do. Only this year, I put onto paper for the first time, that what I really wanted was to write a book.
A chance meeting with Skyla Grayce just a few weeks later seemed to spark what had, at first, been no more than a dream, into a plan of action. Skyla was in the process of launching a new business designed to support writers and business owners to define and refine their on line communications. She has also supported a mutual contact to launch a best selling book.
During the course of 2018, the first book came together around my work commitments, to be published at the beginning of 2019. As it turned out, the combination of personal stories and insights, derived from my own and my clients direct experience of navigating big changes in their work and working lives, had resonance. The book travelled far further than my circle of friends, clients, contacts and work colleagues from my former corporate career. As readers connected with the honesty, simplicity, practical tools (and mirror holding) that Courage, dear Heart offers, they went on to buy it for people they loved and thought might benefit.
At the point of publication I knew I would be writing my next. Skyla and I met to scope out the strategy and flow for Book 2, after which I fell back into a full schedule of Exec Coaching and Consulting.
When the signs of a Pandemic were emerging early 2020, just after I had returned from a trip to New Zealand, I knew it was time to write again. And in the space which provided so many of us a chance to reflect, slow down a little, innovate and create, I wrote The Mindset of Encouragement: How to Lead with more power and less control.
In some ways the timing for this book has been perfect too, for all of us, as the central themes of trust, empowerment, freedom and connection are being tested and redefined.
